The great cedar forests of Azrou are home to the Barbary apes and you will see them in the trees. Midelt is where we will take a lunch break before continuing our journey south. The landscapes change dramatically on this drive, rivers and lakes surrounded by sculptured mountains, palm groves in sunken valleys and villages of traditional adobe. We pass through Erfoud; famous for its fossil workshops and soon enough you will realise you are in the desert. After dinner, local musicians will play around the campfire as you wonder at this amazing place with its millions of stars.

Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge

One of the camp team will come to wake you in the morning to witness the desert sunrise; this is a special part of the day when the silence is breath-taking. After breakfast, you return with the camels to your driver. Leaving Merzouga, you will pass through Rissani; last trading centre for nomads and desert dwellers. You will see the type of buildings are unusual; many are kasbahs which are made of adobe and have stories written in their walls with symbols. Our next visit will be Todra Gorge, located a short distance from Tinghir, this 300 metre fault was created from the river carving its way through the mountain; a beautiful place to take a walk and enjoy.
