Program itinerary 4 Days Ouarzazate to Merzouga Desert

  • 1st Day : Arrival in Ouarzazate
  • 2nd Day : Ouarzazate – Valley of Roses – Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
  • 3rd Day : Sightseeing tour of Merzouga – Nomads – Rissani – Camel ride (desert camp)
  • 4th Day : Merzouga – Tazarine – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

Program Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ouarzazate

Arrival and pick up in Ouarzazate and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Valley of Roses – Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, transfer to the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Along the route we will pass by Kelaa Mgouna (Valley of roses, where roses bloom in April and May). Berber towns and cities such as Boumalne Dades and Todra Gorges to enjoy their wonderful views of the Canyons as we walk. We will continue our way through palm groves. Stop en route for lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive in the town of Erfoud to visit a local fossil craft workshop. Continue to the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi, an incredibly beautiful extension of undulating dunes, also known as the Dunes of Merzouga. This is a great opportunity to take beautiful sunset and sunrise photos. At this time, we will explore the secrets of the Sahara and its unlimited horizons. We will spend the night in a charming Berber camp in the middle of the Sahara.

Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Merzouga – Nomads – Rissani – Camel ride (desert camp)

In this morning we will visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music, originally from the great African Sahara. We will visit some deserted mines and share a mint tea with the Berber nomads in an oasis of palm trees. We will drive through the black desert (Hamada) and the roads of the DAKAR Rally. Then we will go to Rissani, where you can walk through the most authentic and traditional souk of Morocco, and the largest in southern Morocco. Here you can buy all kinds of handicrafts, food and animals. Market days are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

After that we will eat madfouna (Berber stuffed pizza) in a local family house. We will return to the dunes of Merzouga in the afternoon, where we will ride camels for the night in a camp equipped with music in the middle of the Sahara. This is a great opportunity to take beautiful sunset and sunrise photos. At this time, we will explore the secrets of the Sahara and its unlimited horizons. We will spend the night in nomadic Berber tents.

Day 4: Merzouga – Tazarine – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

If you get up early enough, you’ll see the spectacular sunrise, when the color of the dunes and the shape of the shadows combine into an incredible view. We will continue our trip to Rissani, where we will walk through its famous souk, the most authentic and traditional, and the largest in southern Morocco, which sells all kinds of crafts, food and animals. Continue to the Dra’a Valley through the village of Tazzarine (presented in the film “Babel”).

After that we will leave for the wild desert for a picnic under the shade of an acacia tree (class of “wild cuisine” included). In the afternoon, the trip will take us along the ancient caravan route to discover the real Dra’a Valley, with its enormous palm trees and ancient villages. Our day ends in Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight in a charming Riad.
