Day 1 : Arrival in Casablanca
Upon arrival in Casablanca you will be greeted by our ground agents. You will be talked through what’s planned for the next 9 days, and taken to your accommodation for an overnight in Casablanca. The first day is generally free for you to explore.
Days 2-3 : Guided tour in Meknes, Volubilis and Fez
Today includes a guided tour of Meknes followed by a guided visit of the Roman ruins of Volubilis.
You will stay in the the new city of Fez, built by the French during their Protectorate of Morocco.
You will be guided through Fez, and shown all the highlights of the Medina. You will explore the medina’s many artisan’s quarters, such as the brass and copper souqs, the wedding souq & the carpenters plus its bakers, butchers & spice sellers and diffrents views of the medina.
Days 4-5 : Fez –Azrou– Midelt – Merzouga desert
In the morning we will go into the mountains, to a region known as Imouzzer, which is blanketed in forests of cedar, juniper and cork oak. The area is well known for its abundant wildlife, and many types of birds, wild boar and Barbary apes may be seen on our scenic drive. The road will then start to climb into the Middle Atlas mountains; the slopes may be dotted with the tents and goat herds of nomadic Berbers who call this rugged region home. After a late lunch in Midelt, we continue along mountain roads overlooking the wide flowing Oued Ziz. Passing kasbahs and palm groves, we continue through the adobe-colored city of Er-Rachidia and in the late afternoon arrive into Merzouga, a small town on the outskirts of the Sahara Desert. Overnight in Merzouga.
After breakfast in the hotel, we will go on a tour around Erg Chebbi, we will visit a house and listen to some gnaoua music, originally from Ghana and Sudan. We will visit some deserted mines, Berber nomads and an oasis of palm trees. Towards lunchtime we return to Merzouga. After lunch and some time to relax, we find the camels who are waiting to take us on an adventure into the sand dunes. We will spend the night in an equipped camp with drum music in the middle of the Sahara; this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. When we have arrived at the camp, we will climb a high dune to see the sunset. We will spend the night in hotel with thousand of stars, a Berber tent, but sparkling sky (full of stars).
Day 6 : Merzouga- Dades Gorges- Ouarzazat
The day is started with a visit to the Dades Gorge with its unusual natural rock formations and stunning scenery. Continue along the “Route of a 1000 Kasbahs” with an included visit to Kasbah Taourit. After lunch continue to to Ouarzazate, a former Foreign Legion stronghold. In Ouazarzate you will have the option to visit a Berber herbalist and find out about the traditional medicines and cooking spices of the Berber people.
Days 7-8 : Going to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah and Marrakech
Continue on to the village of Aït Benhaddou, a wonderful example of a kasbah, a type of fortress or palace. During our visit to the Kasbah, lose yourself in the narrow, winding passageways and feel the magical atmosphere of this incredible structure.
Continue on to Marrakech through the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2200m in the High Atlas mountains, on winding mountain roads with breathtaking views over the highest peaks of Morocco.
Day 9 : From Marrakech to Essaouira
Today you will split from the tour, after saying good bye to your guide you will be greeted by a private driver who will take you to Essaouira, for a week of windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Day 10 : to the airport
On your last day in Morocco, a driver will pick you up from your hotel, and take you to Marrakech airport.
